How to Create Your Facebook Link Shortener

After much research on how to do this, I finally had to accept that there really isn’t a special process as to how you can really generate this link. Facebook does have its own URL shortener, but getting it might be a bit tricky.  Why? Read on!

Bit.ly shortens Facebook links, but it seems they only do so for links TO Facebook itself. Here, we are finding out how to create a Facebook link or URL shortener TO your post.

1. Link Your Facebook Account to Twitter

First and foremost, make sure your Facebook account or page is linked to Twitter.  If you haven’t done so already, the easiest way to get there is by visiting https://www.facebook.com/twitter and you will be taken to a page that asks you to link your Facebook account to Twitter like this:

If you’re already logged into Twitter then the process will be so much faster, but if not, don’t worry, the next step will prompt you to do so. Then go ahead and authorize Facebook to use your Twitter account.

Then go ahead and select the options you wish to link Twitter to. Some people might want everything (including videos, links, etc.) to post automatically to Twitter from their Facebook account. So feel free to do so if you wish:

2. Go to Your Facebook Page

Save pages and go into your Facebook page by clicking on the drop down menu located at the very top of your right side page. See where your name is at the very top? Find the image farthest to the right and click.

Find your Facebook page and get right to it.

3. Create a Facebook Post

Let’s create a Facebook Page post without posting the actual link, shall we? Go ahead and post your link on the Status area of your Facebook page like this:

Once the image pops up, write a really creative post and then delete the link you just inserted so it then looks like this:

4. Find Your fb.me Shortened URL on Twitter

Go ahead and click “Post” and wait about 5 seconds. Then go to your Twitter account and find your fb.me post right on your Twitter posts page!

Now, don’t forget to copy that link and post it on your favorite social media scheduler!

    Hi!
It’s a good way to cross-post between social media platforms. You can reach a lot of people that way to read your message or latest blog post announcement.
Easy to understand tutorial! Thanks for sharing.
